Cocktail Of The Day (because it’s always cocktail hour somewhere in the world). This week’s #COTD is The Brandy Crusta- one of my all-time favourites and the precursor to The Sidecar. Whenever I’m at West and I can’t decide what to order, I order this. And I’m always happy I did. This recipe is adapted from David Wondrich in Esquire Magazine.
2 ounces cognac (we made this one with Applejack and it was delicious)
1 teaspoon dry curacao
1 teaspoon Maraschino
1/2 teaspoon simple syrup
2 teaspoons lemon juice
2 dashes of bitter
Shake all ingredients over ice and pour into a sugar rimmed glass. Garnish with the thin-pared peel of half a lemon.
