Aaaaaaand we’re back at it! Happy New Years my friends! My apologies for the delay. The holidays and a brief jaunt to Mexico pushed back a few timelines but here we are and we’re ready to hit the ground running! So let’s get to it, shall we?

Just before the holidays, local bartender Olivia Povarchook took Fireball to places it had never been before! And with that, she called out Revel Room’s Carolyn Yu. Which brings us to Sambuca! Everybody’s favourite liquid black liquorice. The stuff that teenage dreams are made of! Carolyn did not shy away from the stuff incorporating a full ounce into a cocktail that, given how much I avoid Sambuca, was actually very tasty.

The Bartender: Carolyn Yu
The Ingredient: Sambuca
The Cocktail: Teddy Day Care

Recipe:

1oz Sambuca
0.75oz Junmai Ginjo Nigori Sake
0.5oz Passionfruit Syrup
1oz Lime Juice
3 dashes Peychaud’s Bitters
2 dashes Orange Bitters
1 egg white

Dry shake all ingredients. Add ice and shake. Double strain into a chilled glass and garnish with a lemon peel and a ginger teddy bear.
