Cocktail Of The Day- The Peddler’s Moon

Cocktail Of The Day (because it’s always cocktail hour somewhere in the world). This week’s #COTD is a Two For The Bar original created by none other than my partner in life, love, and cocktail-based-crime, Blair Turton. This was one of the staples in last summer’s cocktail repertoire and now that we’re well into July, it’s making a solid comeback.

The Peddler’s Moon- a beautifully balanced combination of bourbon, lemon and ginger. And trust me when I say I’m a sucker for all three of those ingredients. Adding a half ounce of oolong tea syrup brings a lovely earthiness to an incredibly refreshing cocktail.

Recipe:

2 oz over proof bourbon or rye
1 oz lemon juice
0.5 oz Oolong Tea Syrup (Combine one part oolong tea, one part sugar in a small saucepan. Bring to a simmer until the sugar is dissolved, approximately 3 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool completely)
2 oz Ginger Beer

Combine bourbon, lemon juice and oolong tea syrup in a shaker and shake over ice. Strain into a rocks glass. Add fresh ice and top with ginger beer. Garnish with a lemon peel.
