Can we all just stop for a moment a take a breath? I feel like my head has been spinning for months now and the rate of rotation continues to climb with every damn news story, every debate, every new controversy and hateful word. And so I need to switch off the television for a moment and take a breath. Because my anxiety can only go so high, my nervous system can only handle so much information before I fall down the rabbit hole of believing that the world as I know it is about to come to an end.
I feel like we could all use some facts- remember those? And maybe a bit of laughter and hope? Perhaps a light at the end of the tunnel? If you too are world weary, I invite you to join me here in this space for a bit of manageable news and a cocktail. I’ll do my best to roundup articles, podcasts, stories I found interesting, informative, funny, enlightening. And, because the world is so damn intense these days, a little cocktail to sip on while sifting through the news. Have heart friends. With a bit of patience and kindness and knowledge and hope, we’ll get through this together!
So this week, let’s keep it simple and sip on a classic Manhattan, shall we? Easy-peasy and one of my favourite cocktails for fall.
Recipe:
2oz rye
1oz sweet vermouth
2 dashes Angostura
Stir and strain. Garnish with orange oil and a cherry. And now for some a few interesting tidbits. Cheers y’all!

It may be a few months old but, man oh man, I could listen to a Jon Stewart rant any day of the week and twice on Sundays.
Still one of my favourite podcast episodes of all time. When anxieties are on the rise, I listen to this, and generally it makes me feel better (even if it’s only for an hour).
A recipe for cookies from one of my favourite food bloggers (because we all need cookies right now).
The New Yorker still finding ways to help us laugh our way through the madness.
